Flutterwave, an online payment service company has announced its partnership with PayPal to allow Nigerians and other African merchants receive money from customers across the world.

According to Olugbenga Agboola, the CEO of Flutterwave, online merchants and businesses in Africa can now add PayPal as a payment option when receiving money from other continents.

Online entrepreneurs and business owners in Nigeria and other African countries can now connect to more than 377 million PayPal accounts across the globe.

Before the partnership, PayPal had barred most African countries from receiving money from its users around the world.

Only twelve African countries were permitted to receive money on the PayPal platform. Other countries like Nigeria could only send but not receive payment.

However, despite the payment restriction, PayPal revealed that Nigeria became its 2nd-largest market, followed by South Africa which didn't have any restriction.
