Removing Car Battery Terminal(s) While the Engine is Running - Answer:

    Depending on the vehicle brand, you may damage the electronic components in your car because the alternator will be the only source of power and the output voltage maybe higher than 12volts.

    But when the battery terminal(s) is/are connected, there will be a load on the alternator which balances out the voltage supply.

    Primarily, the alternator is meant to charge the battery and not to power the car electronics..

    For more clarification, consult a seasoned auto mechanic.
